Once a year all the teenagers, hippies and unemployed gather together in downtown Vancouver to celebrate the 20th day of April. This orgy of the damned is here for one thing and one thing only, TO SMOKE SOME WEED! For some reason, the cops become rational and leave us pot smokers alone on this day. Alone and free to peacefully do what we want, the way it should be. It was a rainy day in Vancouver yet thousands gathered in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery in a display of both pride and civil disobedience. At 4:20 pm the collective smoke of thousands of joints filled the Vancouver downtown air with the sweet smell of freedom and roaches. As the masses enjoyed their blunts out in plain view, the mood was bitter sweet, for we knew that this was just 1 day of the year where we potheads were truly free. But the moment had come and we enjoyed every last bit of our freedom. A day off from work well wasted.
