Planet Hulk – Movie Review

Posted on: February 2, 2010

Every stoner loves to sit down with some munchies and watch a good movie. The problem sometimes is that some movies are just too hard to follow because you’re just too stoned to understand what the hell is going on. Sometimes we just want to watch something to entertain us for the next 1.5 to 2 hours…maybe 3. In comes “Planet Hulk”. He’s green like ganja, if he smoked ganja he’d wouldn’t be so pissed off all the time, and if some of his blood dripped on ganja…weed probably have some crazy gamma charged weed that’ll keep you stoned for the rest of your life!

Hulk SMASH!

Hulk SMASH!

If you want a movie full of action, violence and entertainment that you won’t have to think about while stoned than “Planet Hulk” is a movie you have to watch. This movie is packed full of violence and entertainment from our angry green friend. Although there is a storyline behind this, don’t expect too much out of the movie cause come on, we’re talking about a cartoon here. If you want something a little more, than check out our movie, documentary or tv section for a list of stoner movies. Don’t forget to rate the movies…this will help weed (no pun intended) to sort out the good stoner movies from the bad ones!

If you don’t know who The Hulk is, you can find more about him on wikipedia here. The movie starts off with The Hulk being banished from earth by The Elite Illuminati who consists of a bunch of Marvel characters like Iron Man, Dr. Strange etc. The reason? The Hulk is just too angry and destructive for even the mightiest heroes from earth to stop. The angrier he gets, the stronger he gets and apparently there’s no end to his rage. Once his rage starts he can’t stop controlling that anger and begins a path of destruction against everyone including his friends (See…doesn’t this guy need some ganja?). So to ensure the safety of the earth The Elite Illuminati (EI) finds a habitable planet and send him there on a spaceship. The Hulk awakens on the ship and a video of the EI starts to play explaining what they did to him which only angers him. The Hulk begins to destroy the ship and at the same time messing up the auto navigation sending him through some crazy cosmic portal and landing on some other planet ruled by some crazy dude that forces aliens to fight to the death. Think Gladiator but with aliens.

Hulk and Friends

Anyways, these guys capture The Hulk and place some weird shit on the prisoners shoulders to control them and apparently gives The Hulk the ability to think and speak as well. If you’ve seen past Hulk cartoons, you’ll know that The Hulk isn’t the brightest of heroes so I guess to make this story work they had to do something. You can’t just have a movie with with the main guy like Hulk just say “HULK SMASH! HULK DESTROY!” or throw in grunts here and there for 1.5 hrs. I’m a stoner and I’d even get bored of listening to that.

The story goes on with the Hulk reluctantly teaming up with other prisoners to try to fight and win their freedom from the evil Red King. Eventually Hulk warms up to his fellow prisoners and instead of having many chances to escape on his own, he decides to stay and help them win there freedom. Looking back at it now, Hulk didn’t even need there help to win his freedom. He was strong enough to easily win it on his own. He should’ve just gave them some weed, let them chillout while he quickly finished off the enemy, but then we wouldn’t have an entertaining movie to watch.

Hulk Destroy!

Hulk Destroy!

The majority of the movie is pretty much The Hulk entertainingly destroying the Red King’s monsters and robots in his Coliseum. The Red King even tries to battle Hulk himself but Hulk proved to be too much for him and nearly gets killed if it weren’t for the Red King’s body guard who’s got some crazy ass fighting skills to stand toe to toe with The Hulk. Proving to be too dangerous to the Red King, he orders The Hulk’s death along with The Hulk’s new friends. The story goes on and there’s much more plot in the movie, but I’ll leave it to you to check out the movie.

In short, if you’re looking for a movie that’s just plain entertaining to watch and laugh at, then this movie is perfect for you. You don’t really need any background info or any hard thinking power so you’re free to get totally baked to enjoy a movie full of action, violence and pretty fun to watch!
