What the Hemp?

If you’ve been a long time smoker then chances are you probably already know the difference between hemp and cannabis. Sometimes though, I’ll still run into people who are avid users of marijuana and use the words hemp and cannabis interchangeably thinking they are the same thing. But when told that there’s are differences between the two plants, they didn’t have a clue what I was talking about. This article is to quickly explain the difference between the two plants both to people that have been using marijuana for a long time and for people that are new to the scene.
The most important thing to know about hemp and marijuana is that hemp can’t get you stoned like a mofo and marijuana will guarantee that you will get stoned along with getting other great side effects. Hemp and Marijuana are both very similar looking plants and have similar aroma’s when in bloom. For that reason hemp gets a bad rep, although it shouldn’t because we all know how great weed is. In the U.S. both hemp and marijuana are illegal to grow, but it is legal to sell products made from the hemp plant. Don’t ask me why this is the case, this is what happens when you have a government that is run by retards. Hemp can also contain traces of THC, the active chemical to give you that amazing high, but there’s not anywhere near enough THC content to get you stoned. You’d have to smoke a truckload to get the same high as you would from marijuana. It’s called hemp if it contains less than 1% of THC while marijuana can contain anywhere between 10%-20%. Hemp usually contain’s around 0.5% of THC and at these concentrations? Well that’s where the truckload comes in.
In terms of appearances, marijuana and hemp look very similar. Marijuana usually tends to be short and bushy while hemp can be tall and stalky. The similarity comes when they are both in bloom and they have the ever famous marijuana leaf growing from them. When its time to be harvested, marijuana will have buds while the hemp will not. You’ll find that hemp will look more similar to make marijuana plants vs the female marijuana plants.

You’ll also find that hemp is much more useful then marijuana. You see hemp is used to make products ranging anywhere from paper, to clothing products and can even be used to make fuel. In fact, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson both grew hemp. Ben Franklin owned a mill that made hemp paper. Jefferson drafted the Declaration of Independence on hemp paper. Even Henry T. Ford knew this was a useful plant. The first Model-T was built to run on hemp gasoline and the CAR ITSELF WAS CONSTRUCTED FROM HEMP! Cool shit eh?

So why’s it illegal then? Well, The US Drug Enforcement Agency classifies all C. sativa varieties as “marijuana”. Since both hemp and marijuana are varieties of the Cannabis sativa plant, this makes hemp a type of marijuana. I know that sucks…but again…retarded government.
That’s pretty much all there is to hemp vs marijuana. So stop smoking that sweater your grandma made you using hemp!
